Don't Get So Emotional

With headlines that border on dreary daily, it is easy to get queasy about your investment portfolio. But don't get so emotional!

Throughout our lives, the potential for downside is pervasive and exists with every decision we make. After all, rewards do not come without risk. But do we stop that from allowing us to walk out our front doors? No, we don't.

Instead, as our observant peers will tell us, life is about managing upsides and downsides to a level you feel comfortable with, and in finance, this is what we call risk management.

Everyone would invest the same in a homogenous world with no differences between investor portfolios. However, the reality is far from this, and my goals, needs, concerns, and tolerance for risk and likely much different than yours.

As advisors, it is the job of Suzanne and myself to help our clients understand the potential loss they could experience when pursuing investment returns. Concurrently, our job is also to encourage clients to take more risks than they otherwise would by managing expectations.

When working with an advisor risks are manageable since you have a plan. When you get emotional, a good advisor acts as a voice of reason. When hazards arise, an advisor works with you to find solutions, not dwell on hypotheticals.

Life can be challenging, and so can investing. However, that doesn't mean we throw in the towel. Instead, it is our job to live, learn, and manage risks as they arise. If you need help creating and sticking to an investment plan, we are here to help.

At Lundeen Abrams Advisors, we understand that each person is different and requires a different level of support to achieve their financial goals. So let's discuss your needs and see how we can support you. We will look forward to talking with you soon!
